January 22, 2010

Over the last month Mary’s pain level has increased to an unbearable level. We have been working with dr.’s to try to figure out what is causing it and how to treat it. Today we met with Agape Healthcare to start what is called Palliative care. We met with a Nurse Practitioner (she can write prescriptions) that deals with pain management to see what can be done to help Mary be more comfortable. She had a full schedule today but made some changes and came because she didn’t want Mary to have to wait till next week. I was very thankful. I would ask that you pray for blessings on Nurse Kelly. It was educational for me and it gave Mary some hope of not having to live in such pain. The nurse seems very familiar with this situation. She was very positive about getting Mary’s pain under control. The first prescription took me an hour and six pharmacists to find. Most of them have never heard of OXYFAST. The hope is to relieve the pain and still be coherent. They Oncologist also suspended the Avastin (Bio-Therapy) because Mary’s blood pressure is too high and the blood pressure drugs Mary is on are not helping get it down. Mary goes out for a walk or three every day and does a few exercises with a resistance band. The more the pain the harder it is for her to have a conversation and find the right words. It is very frustrating for her. Having Danielle back in the country is good for both Mary and I. She is at UNC in Greeley which is a little less than an hour drive and she calls a lot and comes home when she can. Being an RA keeps her busy and she can’t always leave on weekends. Shannon and Ben continue to do anything and everything they can to help out. As always we are thankful for all the prayers and support we get from all of you. We never take it for granted and always count it as blessings. Even though I don’t understand what God is doing, I know he is still on the throne and someday it will all be clear. This will be used to glorify God some way, somehow, some time.
God Bless
Bob and Mary
